If you’re the proud owner of any wearable device that tracks your health and exercise you probably already know what HRV stands for. Heck, you probably know what your HRV number is.
For those of you that don’t know, HRV stands for Heart Rate Variability and it’s an important health metric.
Without going in depth — and I’m certainly not an expert — HRV is the time difference between each successive heartbeat. In a medical environment, it’s shown to be a predictor of mortality after heart attack, depression, and a bajillion other health related items.
When we think about HRV as it pertains to our health and exercise, it’s used to determine recovery status, stress, etc. Typically higher numbers are better.
When Katie revealed her HRV number, I became her personal activity accountability coach. I send her a screenshot of my daily steps and ask for hers in return. I figure she’ll get tired of being beat out by an old woman and pick up the pace soon. 😉
My least favorite room in the house…
Not gonna lie… I hate exercise. I hate walking. And I hate that darned treadmill. I just want someone to share in my exercise misery. Why not this girl?
TIL (Today I Learned): NBC’s “To Catch a Predator” ended mostly due to a 56-year-old prosecutor killing himself when Dateline and a team of law enforcement officers attempted to enter his home.
