Oura ring labeled me but thinks i’m creative

Mar 18, 2023

My Oura ring has labeled me — but with good reason. It provided my chronotype by analyzing my circadian rhythm over 3 months. Your natural circadian rhythm influences your body temperature, sleep-wake cycle and physical activity. We already know sleep and exercise is important, so I didn’t need Oura’s reminders yesterday to stand since I was riding in a car.

Why does chronotype matter?

Oura says your chronotype defines your optimal sleep schedule that presets your body’s rhythms for digestion, alertness, and a whole bunch of things. Basically, your overall well-being depends upon it! So they provided an overview of how I can use my chronotype to my advantage:

Because they suggest I sleep until 9:00 AM, they may know a whole lot about me… but they don’t know I have 2 dogs.

The want me to go to bed earlier and get up later. I already know I don’t get enough sleep — and I also know I should. Still, I’m doing the best I can, Oura ring! My average bedtime is around 2:00 AM. Could I shoot for 1:30 AM instead? Sure… but no way can I sleep until 9:00 AM when I have 2 big dogs that need to pee by 7:30 AM. 🙄

TIL (Today I Learned): Mrs. Winslow’s Soothing Syrup was a medicine used in the early 1900s to quiet infants and teething children. It was popular in the US and the UK. It took twenty years of doctors’ complaints before it was withdrawn from the market for being a “baby killer.” The main ingredient was morphine.
