Upon going through email this morning, I was left feeling anxious. The word ‘anxious’ isn’t really right, but I don’t have a better word. Not scared as in frightened… just… ugh!

Headlines…

  1. FTC hits Amazon with $25 million fine for violating child privacy with Alexa voice assistant.
  2. Facebook, Instagram to block news stories in California if bill passes. (Basically a pay to play measure to direct money to media instead of big tech — I think this sucks no matter which way the bill goes.)
  3. AI: War crimes evidence erased by social media platforms. (Platforms remove graphic videos, often using artificial intelligence – but footage that may help prosecutions can be taken down without being archived.)
  4. FTC Orders Ring to Pay $5.8 Million in Refunds For Surveilling Customers, Failing to Stop Hackers. (Hackers harassed victims, livestreamed video, viewed profiles, etc. and Ring didn’t stop it — PLUS their employees also accessed consumer content without consent.)
  5. YouTube’s recommendations are leading kids to gun videos, report says: Researchers posing as 9-year-old were flooded with gun-related content.

And locally…

State Representative, Jim Lucas, of Seymour, was arrested for OWI — and leaving the scene of an accident. He’s a Republican so the Democrats are pulling out every single Republican name they can think of on social media to tie to his crime. I’ve never been a fan of his (I’ve read heated exchanges between him and another FB friend where he was rude and ugly) but c’mon, people.

Not willing to throw my thoughts out to social media — I’ll just sit here waiting to see if I can get honeysuckle I picked to take root…

And play Diablo 4 when it goes live tonight at 7:00 PM ET. 🙂

TIL (Today I Learned): The acronym “R.I.P.” has been engraved on tombstones since at least the fifth century. “Rest in Peace” is the English translation of a Latin phrase with the same acronym.
