My Momma brought an apple pie to Thanksgiving dinner. She also brought along Mr. Pesky and a pumpkin pie (not nearly as good as the apple) and her world famous slaw.

She got the apple pie recipe online and tried it because she said it was easy. Never much of a cook when Scott and I lived at home, she’s a late bloomer when it comes to cooking. 🙂
Swedish Apple Pie
INGREDIENTS for pie filling: 4 apples 1 Tbsp sugar 1Tsp ground cinnamon | INGREDIENTS for topping: 1 cup flour 1 cup sugar 3/4 cup butter melted 1 egg 1/8 tsp salt (pinch) |
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- Peel, core, and slice apples 1/4″ thick. Fill pie plate 2/3 full. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the topping ingredients. (Cool melted butter slightly before adding egg.) Spread over the apples in the pie plate.
- Bake for 1 hour or until crust lightly browns.
- Cover leftovers with aluminum foil and refrigerate.
Now you know: Christmas lights used to be so expensive that they were rented rather than sold. An electrically lit tree was a status symbol in the early 1900’s.
