I recently purchased a bread machine. I know… I know… those are old news. Anyone interested in baking bread already owns at least a couple of them — my Momma included.
I don’t know if I was thinking I’d be so poor when I retire that I won’t be able to afford bread, or if I thought it might be a good time sink for an old retired woman. I didn’t expect to love the stuff and didn’t guess mine would turn out so good.
From white bread to sweet bread…
My first bread machine bread attempt was good. It was plain white bread. The loaf I made last night — sugar and cinnamon — was GREAT!
Sugar and Cinnamon Bread – directions:
- Place ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order listed.
- Use the sweet bread setting if your machine has it — if not, use the white bread setting.
- This makes a 2 pound loaf.
- Make a “well” in the dry ingredients at the top of the pan and add the yeast there.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup room temperature milk
- 1/4 cup butter softened
- 1 egg
- 3 cups of bread flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons of yeast
The wonderful thing about a bread machine is you don’t have to babysit it.
It takes less than 5 minutes to get out your ingredients and do the prep. The bread machine does everything else. That means you don’t have to watch it or pay any attention to it whatsoever. You can do something you want to do and still have a successful outcome. 🙂
