When I opened Lightroom on my iPhone last night, there was a pop-up letting me know I had early access to the new generative remove function. I can now remove unwanted objects and distractions within photos — even on complex backgrounds.
If Mr. Pesky Neighbor is too pesky, AI will send him home.
It’s pretty darned impressive — like he never roasted that hot dog at all.
It’s fun to play around with, but I guess I like the imperfections in candid photos. I’m not a fan of all the bajillion perfect photos (and photo fakes that look real) circulating right now. In the photo below, I could generative remove Merida’s butt — but big adjustments like that make the photo a memory that didn’t exist…
If AI could remove rain — for real — I might be ok with that right now. 😉
