everybody loves an underdog

Richard Goodall, a school janitor from Terre Haute, Indiana, got a golden buzzer from Heidi Klum in May on Americas Got Talent (AGT). He sang Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing and was amazing. He’s not fancy — and he’ll tell you that over and over again.

The jeans he wore on his overweight frame were too long, and he was so nervous. He was busy pushing his glasses up as they slid down his nose the entire time he sang. And then, he cried when he got the buzzer. I’m pretty sure everyone watching fell in love with 55 year-old Richard. I know I did. He’s what humble looks like.

Even Merida was singing along until she forgot the words. 🙂

Merida.

Last night, he performed on the AGT Quarter Finals and sang Bolton’s, “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You.” (You can watch here on youtube.com.) He did good, but I would’ve picked a different song for him — something a bit more upbeat that rocked the audience like before.

Sure hope the dude wins it all. He’s as common as an old shoe, as my Nanny would say. Everybody loves an underdog — especially me — so here’s hoping he advances.

Now you know: A high school in Pennsylvania issued an Apple MacBook to each of its 2,306 students, then remotely activated the webcams to spy on the students at home.
