Merida began acting oddly on Sunday evening. Although she typically sleeps in bed, she didn’t even attempt to get in it. When I’m on the couch, she’s right there with me – but she wouldn’t get up there either. She would lie alone in the kitchen and by yesterday morning, she was crying. We couldn’t tell if she hurt her back… or if it was some other problem. Of course, I immediately called the vet.
Big dogs and little cars.
I don’t know what I would’ve done if not for Ben. My little Mini Cooper will haul a dog, but not easily. And getting her in it would’ve been harder than loading her into his larger vehicle. Even with the extra room, she wasn’t able to get comfortable, and she whined and panted the entire 20-minute drive there.
Just like when we humans go to a doctor, the first thing they do at the vet is get a weight. 100.6 pounds! He mentioned Dharma being a tad heavy too at her last visit and I explained that all the girls in our house are fat.
The verdict: Merida has pulled something in her back or neck.
She was home and resting by 7:00 PM last night with steroids, muscle relaxers, and pain pills. Crazy how much we love our pets, isn’t it?
Now you know: During the rescue of Captain Phillips from Somali pirates, the $30,000 in cash they obtained from the ship went missing. Two members of the Seal team who participated in the rescue were investigated but never charged. The money was never recovered.
