thoughts about success from an old retired woman

Dec 16, 2024

I’ve always loved gaming. The game, Path of Exiles, has been around forever, and Path of Exiles 2 just released in beta. To get the early access you have to pay $30 for what will be a free game. They had over 1.1 million pay to play early in just about 36 hours. Take my money!

Story time to get you up to speed…

There’s a guy called Asmongold who streams on Twitch and YouTube — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asmongold) — he’s a digital creator. Sometimes, he streams while he’s playing games and gabbing, while other times he streams only to rant about what’s trending, politics and more. I tuned in recently and joined 38k people listening to his livestream. Thirty-eight THOUSAND people listening to a gamer dude in the middle of the afternoon.

Those 38,000 people were captivated as he was talking about not brushing his teeth and how all the back ones have rotted out. People pay to listen to this stuff? Yes, in fact, they do! In his combined channels (Asmongold & Zackrarr), he has 5.1 million subscribers with a combined 5.11 BILLION (with a B… BILLION) views on youtube.

Asmongold

Wikipedia says he made over $3 MILLION dollars just from Twitch subscriptions last year — I’m one of them. When the game I referenced above came out on 12/6/24, Asmon live-streamed it and had 24,000 new subscribers in less than 2 hours. A Twitch sub is right at $5.00/month and Google says that digital creators get 1/2 of that.

Do the math. Not a bad afternoon for a dude with 12 teeth who says, “holy fucking God” at least 25 times every 30 minutes and has the craziest eyebrows on the planet. But don’t let that fool you… Asmondgold is whip smart, is entertaining, and consistently delivers the content his audience wants.

Now you know: The US Army considered creating the rank of Field Marshall during World War 2, but it was blocked by GEN George C. Marshall, because he didn’t want to be called “Marshall Marshall.”
