President Trump’s latest post at the time I’m writing this was, “What a terrible night this has been. God bless you all!“
American Airlines flight #5342 from Wichita, Kansas to Ronald Regan National Airport with 60 passengers & 4 crew members collided with a military helicopter with 3 on board. A rescue effort is still going on in the Potomac River.
I’m waiting on the press release that is already 20 minutes late starting, AND I doubt anything new or important will be released other than what’s already been reported. It’s tragic no matter the circumstances that caused the crash. Knowing that Trump had already been briefed, his post from a bit earlier was concerning… at least to me.
Pieces of ice, it’s dark, the aircraft is in about 8′ water, and it’s windy.
Tough conditions for any recovery efforts and I’ve yet to hear anyone with knowledge sound optimistic about finding anyone alive. Unimaginable and horrific. I knew my brother was driving back from an event, but still felt a moment of panic. I can’t even imagine being onsite to pick up a loved one to be confronted with this news. Heck, I can’t even imagine watching a loved one head out as a first responder in this instance.
I would share proper credit to the source but it’s been shared on X so many times it’s not available.
I’m sure we’ll hear more later this morning… but none of it is going to be good. 😞
