it’s not just a difference in perception, is it?

According to the media outlets you frequent, you either watched a peaceful protest or a riot/insurrection in LA. You either saw video and images of people standing with signs, or you saw fires burning and Mexican, Hamas and Palestinian flags being waved. You either saw violent mobs committing arson, throwing rocks at vehicles, and attacking federal law enforcement… or you saw people speaking out peacefully.

You saw the toddler in a stroller being treated for exposure to tear gas and blamed ICE — or you felt horrible for any child whose parent would think it’s a good idea to bring them to a protest… peaceful or violent.

How can actions be perceived so differently?

Peaceful protest…

Not peaceful protest…

You can’t make me believe…

I’ve been to Mexico multiple times and not once did I ever wave an American flag in protest against their government. I’ll never think it’s ok for that same thing to happen in the USA.

  • You can’t make me believe that what’s happening in LA is peaceful.
  • I don’t care what side of the deportation fence you’re on, it doesn’t change the fact that some — not all — of those gathering to protest turned to destruction, looting, and violence.
  • You can not convince me that some organized group didn’t provide the flags for those that gathered.
  • I believe the person/people responsible for the news release from the LA Police Department knew they were lying in their statement entitled, “Los Angeles Police Department Statement Regarding Today’s Peaceful Protests.”
  • I will always think it’s inappropriate for a US Representative to share a video of themself using profanity. (In this case, Norma Torres, of California’s 35th District who recorded herself saying, “ICE get the F*** out of LA…” and sharing it on social media outlets.)

This isn’t about politics.

There’s nothing I’ve said here that’s based in my political views, but instead it’s about calling something as it is: The reality is that people have different views and oftentimes they are based upon how they perceive something to be. But sometimes, viewpoints are created by what others want you to believe based upon THEIR perceptions.

I’ve clearly said what my perceptions are, but that doesn’t mean you’ll see it the same way. And that’s ok too. 🙂

Now you know: Warren Buffett and Jimmy Buffett took a DNA test to see if they were related. The results came back negative, but the two men remained friends and continued to refer to each other as “Uncle Warren” and “Cousin Jimmy.”
