random tech — and over 1/8th ton of love

Sep 30, 2025

One of my best friends has 2 rescue dogs that total about 100 pounds (one is still a growing girl). We were talking about dog sizes and I realized that I feed, care for, and love over 1/8 of a ton of walking dog flesh. Woah — talk about perspective.

Hugo is working hard to be as large as the big girls.

Hugo is never going to be over 100 pounds like Dharma and Merida. He’s right at 55 lbs. and it’s a good weight for him. I’m glad he’s more ‘medium’ sized as big dogs are so much harder to care for as they age. I guess that’s true for humans too though, isn’t it?

Random tech: liquid glass – macOS 26 Tahoe update.

I’m assuming if you’re part of the Apple ecosystem you’ve updated your iPhones, iPads, watches and computers/laptops. The new look and new bouncy icons are nice, right? It’s the first major redesign since iOS 7 — so it’s about time.

The real improvements for the iPhone are in call screening and the Apple Intelligence upgrades. I think the update is most noticeable on the iPad and least noticeable on the Apple Watch.

One thing Apple still doesn’t do that I wish it would…

If you have Android and Onedrive, you probably get a daily “on this day” email message with around 5 photos you took on the same day throughout years past. I love getting those emails and find it’s a fun way to start my morning. Apple photos will let you use their “memories” feature to find them, but that’s lame.

Since around 240 million people get those daily Onedrive emails, wouldn’t you think Apple could offer something similar? At least for their paying iCloud customers? I’d love to see this AI generated photo pop up for me in email next year…

Now you know: The AI boom made a tiny Caribbean island of 15,000 people rich: Anguilla now generates 47% of its income from .ai domains, up from <1% before the boom.
