It won’t be all that long until it’s time to decorate for Christmas. For me, that means moving around some furniture to make room for the 2 trees I’ll put up again this year. Looking at what I’ve got and where I have it positioned, I’m thinking it’s time to do a little refresh around here.
I saw the list from the image below and thought some of the ideas were decent so I wanted to share it with you. The 2026 color trends, released by Benjamin Moore, are pretty darned close to what I painted over when I moved in the barndo (the 2 on the left in the 2nd row were in the kitchen/dining area) — or pretty darned close to what I had at the Seymour house (top 2 on the left were painted in Coco’s room). I’m not doing those again!

I was in a rush when moving in 3 years ago.
While I’m still happy with the upstairs here, the downstairs — where people (and ME) are 95% of the time — is due some attention. I bought paint for the doors months ago that has yet to be opened. I never painted the bathroom when we moved in, and my dogs wipe their wet/dirty bodies down the hallway on a daily basis.
I’m forever saving photos I see online of decor and rooms I love — even though I’d either never do it here (bedroom below)… or couldn’t do it here (kitchen below).

But I CAN paint — and I CAN do a few things from the list above.
I’m not going to be spritzing my bed every morning; and I could care less that I have cheap Wal-mart hangers in my closets. I could grab a few throw pillows for a pop of color and again… paint. I want a different coffee table and since I have a ton of barn wood planks in the garage, I might even attempt building something like this (or is that made from pallets?)…

Now that I’ve written about it, I’ve got to do it.
Perry’s on vacation next week and I don’t want to fill his days with crap I want to get done, so the week after that it’s on, you guys! Hold me to it and I’ll share my progress. 🙂
Now you know: Vince Coleman died in the 1917 Halifax Explosion when he stayed at his post and telegraphed an incoming train to stop out of town. His warning: “Hold up the train. Ammunition ship afire in harbour making for Pier 6 and will explode. Guess this will be my last message. Good-bye, boys.“
