my buddy Alisa is likely worthless today

Jan 20, 2026

When I think about the Indiana Hoosiers I always think about my buddy, Alisa. She’s the biggest IU fan I know! That girl is always loyal to a fault. With the IU win last night — the College Football Playoff National Championship game — I’m guessing she’s so far over the moon she can think of nothing else. 🩷

Trump was at the game sporting a red tie. His grandkids were in red/white. Jim Banks was sitting with the group and we know he was rooting for IU. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say although Trump congratulated both teams, I think he was secretly rooting for IU to win. But ole Marco Rubio, also in the Trump suite, openly supports his alma mater, the Miami Hurricanes. LOSER!

IU wins

I’m also pretty worthless today but not because of the IU win.

The company that installed the outside boiler still hasn’t shown up to service it. After it overheated once again, I called and left messages yesterday and today — afraid the water will freeze and we’ll REALLY be in trouble. Today I reached a live human, but wasn’t given a time when someone would show up. Only a promise to remind the dude I don’t have heat. ARG!

Now you know: With IU’s football team going undefeated at 16-0 and their basketball team historically hitting 32-0 in 1976, Indiana is now among the only schools ever with perfect national-championship seasons in both sports — joining UCLA as the only other team to accomplish both. The 2025 Hoosiers won the first college football national championship in school history by beating the Miami Hurricanes 27-21 in the CFP title game. Indiana finished 16-0, becoming the first FBS team since the 1894 Yale Bulldogs to go undefeated with 16 wins in a season.
