shoes rank in the top 5 things seniors care about

Feb 26, 2026

I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I can tell you that I’m a senior and shoes are pretty darned important to me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Exercise is paramount for all ages.

Every single day I walk on the treadmill and do stretches. I hate it. I REALLY hate it!! I do it anyway because my back is marginal and one hip and knee are no longer playing nice with the rest of my body. Getting old sucks when you don’t know if your aches and pains are just from age or from something else. ๐Ÿ™‚

I can tell a difference in how I feel when I wear my flat Chuck Taylor Converse and my Brooks or Hokas the day following any exercise.

3 pair of sneakers

So why did I choose this topic today?

Because I bought a pair of Onn Cloud shoes based upon reviews and don’t want you to make the same mistake. That’s why. These shoes weren’t horrible… until they were. In my many, many years of wearing sneakers I’ve probably thrown pairs in the washer hundreds of times. The Onn Cloud kicks are the first pair I’ve ever had shrink to the point they are unwearable. As in… I thought I could stretch them back out and have blisters on 3 toes.

I currently recommend 2 brands:

  1. Hoka — the Clifton and Bondi 10 are both great for walking.
  2. Brooks — the Trace is good but the Hyperion Max is amazing.

So there you have it. Head on over to Zappos.com and buy a decent pair of shoes and get your butt moving. Especially if you’re old. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now you know: Healthy older adults typically take 2,000 steps per day but should be aiming for 6,000 – 8,000 steps to reap significant health benefits, including lower risk of heart attack or stroke.
