I’m mad at Walmart and it’s not because they don’t have enough cashiers. I’m outside putting up the umbrellas when my phone started blowing up with text messages.

Walmart wants your money right now and don’t care how they get it.
I have one credit card set as payment for my Walmart plus subscription. When it came due yesterday, they hit that card for payment. I received a text from the CC provider asking for approval since it was a suspicious charge. Before I could even click the link to approve it, I received another notification!
The second text was from the CC provider of a different card. It’s one that I’ve used for grocery purchases in the past, but is not set as a secondary billing card. That card paid the subscription charge for Walmart Plus.
And it’s legal.
Walmart+ Terms of Use explicitly authorize them to charge any credit, debit, or other accepted payment method they have for you—not just the one designated as the primary/default for the membership. So if I order groceries for Mom on my account and use her card, Walmart can choose to bill her for my membership.
Now, I either say I authorize the charge on the first card and Walmart gets paid twice — or I say I don’t authorize it and they require a card replacement. And it’s all legal because of the fine print you agree to when you subscribe!
Oh yah! Their system will just keep cycling through any and every card you’ve ever used – BAM BAM BAM — until one will give them the $100 bucks. It’s no wonder some credit card companies deny payment and perceive it as a possible fraudulent charge. ARG!
Still… we keep going back.
Walmart is a big corporation and people are going to buy their products no matter how shitty they treat us. I’m guilty too… but I don’t have to like it. 🤬
Now you know: Instant coffee was patented in New Zealand in 1890 by David Strang of Invercargill, nearly 50 years before Nescafé was introduced.
