Here on the outskirts of the burg, trouble was a brewin’ in the wee hours this morning. This dead-end road had enough traffic it could’ve been mistaken for I65! There were police cars with lights flashing and officers on foot canvasing the fields. I guess hard times brings out criminals in full force — and I can attest that it brings out law enforcement in full force too. Police were swarming this sleepy rural area in an attempt to apprehend those who were trying to steal anhydrous ammonia from the tanks of the Farm Bureau Co-op that’s just across the field. I guess the officers thought they might even be hiding at my house/office because glinting flashlight beams lit everything up more than once.
Meth-heads are solely responsible for our lack of productivity today!
Of course this isn’t the first time that meth manufacturers have spent time beside those same tanks. I remember a few years back there was a couple caught with a make-shift lab right in their vehicle when arrested. I also remember that Buster got the towing assignment and the culprits arrived to pick up their truck the following day! It wasn’t surprising that they had the money to pay for the tow and the storage in cash. Wouldn’t you think some type of stricter punishment would apply?
