I’m up and running – barely

Sep 1, 2009

My main system is now up and running on this chilly fall (booooo!) morning in the burg. Still a few bugs and minor issues that most likely won’t get ironed out without (a) spending money (b) a bug-fix release or (c) the software manufacturers doing a little compatibility work. I guess the thing that really gets me most is that this whole software release thing isn’t “Mac-like.”

Not Mac-like!

Remember Windows ME? Well, that’s what this feels like. So many of the things I love most about Mac are dissolving. For example — where there used to be rare software updates, now there are many; where everything used to be plug and play, now I have to figure it out on my own.

Yes, OSX 10.6 (Snow Job — ermmm Snow Leopard), frees up HD space and programs open (and sometimes crash) faster. But still, Apple could’ve (and should’ve) done this better. I expected more.
