Tomorrow was my scheduled COVID-19 test in preparation for a small procedure on the following day. I was to have the accurate, 8-hour rapid test. Today, I get a call from the facility and am told they’re out of those tests. They have the 8 day tests… but the few 8 hour ones they have left are reserved for emergency surgeries.
There’s a new kid on the block — a rapid-er rapid test that provides results in 15 minutes. It is only available (near me) at one urgent care facility — the other urgent care, associated with the hospital, won’t carry them. They said it’s about 90% accurate but Google says 50/50.
The only thing I can do is call the surgeon’s office in the morning and ask if he’d like a 90% accurately tested me… or one that shows me clear of COVID-19 that’s 8 days old.
Still, it’s all good!
My procedure isn’t urgent and I’m healthy otherwise. I have lots of food to eat, two dogs to keep me busy, and a happy place to rest while listening to the latest James Patterson book, The Summer House.
TIL (today I learned): After Kurt Cobain from Nirvana passed, David Grohl (former Nirvana drummer) wrote a demo of songs by himself. He handed out cassettes to friends and eventually, they exploded in popularity. He then formed the band, FOO FIGHTERS, after the the album did so well. Read more…
