At Perry’s Mom’s house on Christmas Day, I got a FaceTime call from Katie. In tears, she sticks her hand in front of her face in the camera and there it is… a diamond engagement ring.
Katie has wanted to marry her partner for quite a while now. He was willing, just wanted to do it without any hoopla. Katie stood her ground and wouldn’t settle for less — he had to ask her Dad for permission, and he had to propose on bended knee.
After telling me the good news, Katie asked for a favor. She asked that I PLEASE control her Mother in all things wedding related. Jerilyn wants to plan the entire wedding down to the last detail just the way she wants it, and Katie would prefer she have a less active role. I’m supposed to be the buffer and rein Jerilyn in — helping Katie gets what she wants since it’s HER wedding.
If y’all know Jerilyn, you know I have my work cut out for me. If she’s reading this, I want her to know that I expect forgiveness for whatever it is I will be required to do in the coming months. Scroll back up and look at that photo again. Jerilyn’s face pretty much says it all. This could get ugly.
