what does summer break look like for a nana?

May 31, 2024

My granddaughter, Coco, is on summer break from school. About to go into the 8th grade, she’ll be 14 on Tuesday. FOURTEEN!

Girls are messy. At least mine is.

Ben drops Coco here as he heads to work… about 6:30 AM. That’s really early for a night owl Nana. It’s early for her too and she heads straight to her room and goes back to bed. But not before she tosses everything she’s carrying onto the coffee table in the office/downstairs family room.

Where does trash go?

I’m a “everything has a place” person, and Coco’s a “my stuff goes everywhere” one. It’s a small price to pay and I’m rolling with the flow. What drives me crazy though is that she doesn’t understand the concept of trash cans.

When she goes back to her Mom’s on Sunday for a week and I tackle cleaning her room, I’m expecting 100 water bottles and 25 Dr. Pepper cans. It’s a flashback to Ben’s youth. He didn’t understand the concept of trash cans either.

Merida doesn’t care about messy.

She’s thrilled when Coco arrives and looks for her when she’s not here. 🙂

Merida wants inside

Now you know: A study found that self-centered men who are argumentative & unempathetic are more likely to own a high-status car such as a BMW or Mercedes and these male drivers are the ones most likely to generally drive recklessly. No connection was found between female self-centeredness and luxury cars.
