I’m back to practice retirement mode. I plan to take at least a few weeks downtime (most likely a couple months). Summers are slow for our business anyway — corporations steer clear of scheduling big events in months where employees are attending graduations and weddings, taking vacations and getting kids ready for school or college.
Unlike me, Mr. Farmer isn’t practicing retirement this summer.
Rex owns and farms the ground surrounding the barndo. After planting winter wheat and spraying it multiple times, he picked the perfect days to cultivate the dead stuff under and plant (hopefully corn) in the healthy soil.
His timing was nearly perfect! Once the seeds were put in the ground on Friday, we had soft rain for the next two days. I can’t wait to see new green begin to sprout up out there.

After much hard work and lots of expensive chemicals, the pool is clean and ready for swimmers. Anyone wishing to take a polar plunge is welcome since we’re still waiting on some lasting hot days in a row.
