my nanny was the queen of persimmon pudding

Jul 9, 2024

Nanny made the best persimmon pudding I’ve ever eaten. My Aunt Shirley made some great persimmon pudding too. Along comes Katie and she replicates her g’ma’s recipe (Aunt Shirley) — and makes a mean rendition of my favorite dessert.

So I compared the recipes, and found they’re really different.

I decided to try Nanny’s recipe… and BAM! It’s amazing. I know because I tasted it even before I took a photo of it.

Now you know: John F Kennedy was a WW2 war hero. In 1943 the torpedo bost he was in command of was struck by a Japanese destroyer. When the boat sank, Kennedy swam a critically injured crew member 3.5 miles to shore. They were rescued by writing a message on a coconut husk.
