the rain that never happened

Sep 7, 2024

Under an air quality alert because of high temps and humidity the night before last, Mr. Pesky and I decided not to take our daily walk. We didn’t want to join the dude on the back deck due to a heart attack.

Mr. Pesky

Last night, we started our nightly routine a bit earlier surrounded by dark skies and a bit of wind. We didn’t want to miss 2 nights in a row. We both felt a drop or two of rain about 1/2 way through our normal trek and called it done. We both headed to our respective homes to await the downpour.

Then, it never did actually rain.

We didn’t get wet… but neither did anything else. 🙄

I will admit, I HATE walking outside. I’d 10 times rather put in my steps on the treadmill even when the scenery doesn’t begin to compare.

I’m sure the reason I’m not a fan has something to do with the variety in terrain. Walking on uneven surfaces, such as inclines on pavement, engages different muscle groups, improving balance and coordination. Yes, those are distinct plusses I could definitely benefit from. Still, I’d rather be rickety and get my steps in and over with on the treadmill.

Which is better for you?

Now you know: The Hoover Dam contains enough concrete to build a two-lane road from San Francisco to New York.
