political viewpoint from a non-political person

Nov 7, 2024

The election is over. Donald Trump won and Kamala Harris lost. Reactions I’ve witnessed run the gamut from gloating to downright despair and everything in between. I’ve not campaigned for either party or candidate and only a few people even know who I voted for. I did not vote a straight ticket.

I have family members that didn’t vote the same as I did. How do I know? When opposing candidates are supported, it’s obvious one family group’s vote wasn’t the same as mine. 🙂

we're ok here no matter who is pres

Donald Trump will be my president… and if elected, Kamala would’ve been my president. I’m not one of those who claim otherwise.

Translated: I’m not flipping my shit.

Below are just 3 FaceBook comments from those who are:

  1. We will have to do what we need to survive but also resist how we can.
  2. i literally deleted my own mother and sister… im building walls with in my household. (Also shared a photo of his/her 4 year-old daughter flipping the bird.)
  3. America: July 4, 1776 – November 5, 2024 Rest in Peace

The above doesn’t even touch those demanding Biden step down to make Kamala president.

And then I read this — but didn’t re-share it on social media:

How you treat someone that votes differently than you speaks volumes about your character. How you respond to this win or loss reflects on you as a person. I’ve seen some things that are down right petty, untrue, and ridiculous on both sides. Remember, we don’t have to engage anyone and their irrational immature behaviors. You can mourn your loss or celebrate your win with grace. ✌🏼

We, after all, are the most powerful country in the world. We are the USA!!! 🇱🇷

If I’d have been the author, the only thing I would’ve added is that you can still support what you believe in even if it’s not aligned with the country’s current administration. You can spend your money supporting companies and organizations that believe as you do.

Now you know: Minnesota is the only state to have consecutively voted blue in every presidential election since 1976 (past 13 elections), and the only state to have never voted for Reagan.
