have 3 dogs and you won’t want 3 kids

Dec 14, 2024

Being a parent to 3 dogs makes me so very grateful I didn’t choose to have 3 children.

To be fair — in dog years, my “children” are aged 70, 28, and a new born — a feat not possible for humans, for sure. But good grief! Trying to keep them all healthy at the same time is really hard. While Dharma will have her mobility issues for the rest of her life, the other two should be in great shape. But no!

Poor Merida is miserable. 🙁

Merida skin issues

She started scratching mid-week and I gave her a bath in shampoo that’s supposed to help with that. It didn’t. Today, Dr. Rennekamp gave her an antibiotic and a steroid… along with the Benadryl she’s also taking. Prednisone is a miracle drug, isn’t it? Seems like it helps with about everything a dog has crop up. Hope it’s fast-acting on Merida so we can all get some sleep.

Two things that made me go hmmmm this week…

ONE: When I heard that the most serious charge against Luigi Mangione was 2nd degree murder, I couldn’t believe it! Dude is on surveillance video shooting the UnitedHealthCare CEO, Brian Thompson, in the back in broad daylight. He had bullets in his possession that matched those that killed him. CNN said it’s because under New York law, the circumstances don’t meet the criteria for a first degree charge. If proof of terrorism is found, the charge could be upgraded.

TWO: What the heck is up with the drones in Jersey reported to be as big as a car hood? Caught live online by News Nation, their team saw (and filmed) 50 come off the ocean in about an hour. Mayorkas says they’re drones purchased at convenience stores.

These two stories will be developing — I hope Luigi is hit with 1st degree murder, and I hope those drones belong to us and we just aren’t telling the public.

Now you know: When Guinness World Records stopped monitoring the record for the longest time to stay awake in 1997, the record holder at the time was Robert McDonald who went 18 days, 21 hours, and 40 minutes without sleeping in 1986.
