Dharma is still struggling with mobility but seems to be improving somewhat. She’s on meds from the vet and although I hoped the improvement would be just short of a miracle, it’s about the best we can get with her age.
Just like my brother, Dharma is also lucky to have a smart sister. 😉
Dharma has required an escort off the deck step (yes, ONE step) for quite some time now. Before she fell going down them last week, I could simply walk out there with her and she’d go down on her own. Now, she won’t go to the yard to do her business without being led down that one step.
Merida is quite possibly the smartest dog on the planet…

Merida believes it’s her job to help. She helps all the 4-legged humans here steal treats out of the drawer in my desk; she helps herself to the other dogs’ food if they don’t eat fast enough; and she helps keep Hugo in line if demands too much attention.
Merida may be a hot mess… but she’s a loving, mega-hyper, family member. 🩷
Did I mention she’s also really smart?
Now you know: On 20th May 1910, Edward VII’s funeral was led by his dog, Caesar, a fox terrier. Caesar walked behind the coffin ahead of Europe’s monarchs. The King’s constant companion, Caesar now lies sculpted at his feet in St George’s Chapel. His collar read: “I am Caesar. I belong to the King.”
