This is true in humans and animals. Think about it! While I won’t go into detail about human behavior in that regard, I can tell you about dogs.
None of my dogs are dumb.
Dharma is the least smart of my crew. She isn’t required to sit for a treat because she doesn’t know what that means. She’s good; she’s laid back; and she’s easy peasy.

Hugo is smart and is a quick learner. Other than his fear aggression challenges, he’s moderately easy. But Merida? She is a HANDFULL — ALL THE TIME — and that girl is the smartest dog I’ve ever owned!
To keep Dharma safe from the other two, I’ve been putting her in the bedroom and shutting the door when I leave. That room has a round door knob and somehow… she keeps escaping. Ben came downstairs to find Dharma out of the bedroom twice while I was gone yesterday. He secured her back inside. But the second time, he watched as Merida raised up and turned the knob… springing Dharma from her safe environment of confinement.
Again, smart is difficult!
Last required selfie for the week. YIPPEE!
Although my Momma looks blind, I took her to the dentist. 🙂

Now you know: In 2023, a kidnapper tried to abduct an 8 year old girl, but her 13 year old brother saved her by shooting the kidnapper with his slingshot until he ran off. A 17 year old was later arrested with wounds to his head and chest.
