common sense and the epstein files

Nov 17, 2025

EDIT — White House just released this: Where is Democrats’ Transparency on Epstein?

So much controversy surrounding those darned Epstein files! The issue is complicated by legal, political, and ethical considerations, and the lack of transparency fuels ongoing debate. It should be obvious at this stage that downplaying the issue isn’t going to make it disappear. So why keep doing just that?

Regular people — and dogs — are left to speculate.

Hugo in deep thought.

Apply common sense and it still is senseless.

If the Epstein files had anything in them horribly revealing about Trump, I figure the Democrats would have already put the details in play — likely before the election. Putting myself in Trump’s position, if there’s truly is nothing damning within whatever files there are, I’d have demanded their release yesterday. It’s no surprise Democrats are using the lack of transparency to deflect from other political issues. Can you blame them?

I understand that no president, including Trump, has the unilateral power to unseal the Epstein files due to federal court orders and judicial oversight. These files are under strict legal protections, and federal judges have blocked efforts to release certain documents, such as grand jury transcripts, citing state guidelines and the need to maintain confidentiality. But when he tells Pam Bondi to research the files for Democrat connections but not his own?

Even Hugo thinks that’s fishy, y’all.

Hugo thinks it's fishy.

Controlled Narrative and Public Perception…

Then we find out that Epstein was being counseled by The NY Times and was coaching Democratic members of Congress. So there’s that… and it’s fishy too. I’m still incredibly put off by the initial BS show Republicans put on with “The Epstein Files: Phase 1.” So dumb to make a production out of nothing by pretending to give social media influencers grit with the promise of more.

And just as I was typing my thoughts about this, Trump posted about it! In the middle of all the blah blah blah, he says that House Republicans should vote to release Epstein files:

Trump's post about Epstein

Does Trump really not care — or does he already have a good idea what the outcome of the U.S. House of Representatives vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act (H.R.4405) on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 will be?

A 2025 PBS News/NPR/Marist poll found that about 75% of Americans support the release of all Epstein-related files, driven by widespread suspicion that the government is withholding information to protect high-profile figures. The plea deal (18 months in jail but allowed to leave 12 hours a day/6 days a week) was secretive and favorable to Epstein. Arrested again in July 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges, the earlier case’s leniency became a focal point for public outrage and legal challenges. It wasn’t until after he died that a federal judge ruled the non-prosecution agreement from 2008 had breached victims’ rights.

So now we see what happens next. I’m going to remember that what anyone says can be truth or a lie. Anything a person says can also be twisted around to fit any narrative. Same applies to anything you put in writing. I’m going to use common sense when (if) the Epstein files are released. I hope you do the same.

Let the chips fall where they may. 🫣

Truth and transparency are essential tools to end human trafficking and prevent future exploitation.

Now you know: In 1903, when Pierre Curie learned that he was going to win the Nobel Prize in Physics, he threatened to refuse it if he could not share it with his wife, Marie Curie, who was not to receive it.
