There are a bajillion things you’ll see on the Internet today that weren’t around just a few short years ago. For example, AI will choose a style for you that compliments your natural body type. Of course, I’ve tried it — even though one of my FB friends said that using AI depletes energy resources.

The “real” me is in the center and I must admit that both styles look infinitely better than my own choice. Guess I need to order me some brown boots since my gray Sorrels are not style approved.
Here are five things that are common on today’s internet:
- Deepfakes are the new normal. AI articles, chatbots, voice cloning, and more are encountered daily.
- TikTok style endless scrolling videos.
- Influencers as full-fledged brands and businesses.
- Premium EVERYTHING with subscriptions.
- Algorithms shaping reality. Feeds determine what people see, believe and buy.
Something else I’ve noticed recently is how common it is for women to publicly share a photo of their bare pregnant belly. No judgement here… just a sign of how times have changed. In the 80s, we covered that thing up. 🙂
And finally, let’s talk about the weather in southern Indiana…
In 3 1/2 hours, it dropped right at 30°. The earlier storm was brutal with high winds (clocked at 70 mph on top of Schneck Medical in Seymour). As I’m typing this at just after midnight, it’s still howling here and it will likely be colder by the time I get up in the morning. We didn’t lose power and I’m hoping that daylight doesn’t reveal trees down that I’m responsible for getting cleaned up.
All the stores around here were out of “pet friendly” ice melting options because of the wrath of God weather prediction. I Googled alternatives and found out that NONE of the products are actually pet safe… just that some are worse than others. The best pet-friendly option (Dharma has mobility issues and hesitates going down ONE STEP) was non-clumping kitty litter. I’ll let you know how that works out.
UPDATE:
Yesterday, it was just over 70°.

Now you know: Jane Goodall observed a 4 year “civil war” among chimpanzees at Gombe Stream National Park. The conflict involved kidnapping, organized violence, and the total annihilation of a breakaway group, shocking Goodall who previously thought chimps were peaceful.
