European governments are encouraging people to have enough supplies on hand to survive 72 hours without essential services. That includes electricity, water, and even Internet access.
Three days doesn’t sound like much, does it?
But think about it. No lights, no running water, no Internet, no credit card machines, and possibly no cell service.
I’m not talking about simply surviving for three days. I’m wondering how many of us could do it comfortably.
I’m willing to bet that older generations would fare much better than younger ones. I’m not the “younger generation” by a long shot, but still… my momma is baking loaves of bread that are picture perfect…

While I’m over here melting spatulas…

Here in Indiana, I think the time of year would make a HUGE difference.
In winter, keeping frozen food frozen might not be a problem, but staying warm certainly could be. In summer, we’d have the opposite problem — plenty of heat, but freezers full of food that could spoil.
Could I survive 72 hours without electricity or Internet? Absolutely. We have a generator, coolers, and enough supplies to get by. Could I do it comfortably? Depends on the season. In summer, I’d probably be fine. In winter, I’d be counting the hours until the Internet came back.
Apparently, my emergency preparedness plan needs to include more than food, water, and batteries. It needs to include entertainment. 😉
And you?
Do you have enough food, water, medications, batteries, and other necessities to get through 72 hours without leaving home?
And perhaps the bigger question: Could you go three entire days without the Internet?
Now you know: The human body can generally survive several weeks without food, but only about three days without water, depending on conditions. That’s why emergency preparedness recommendations prioritize drinking water over food.
