Sunday evening stuff…

Today is the first day of the Jackson County Fair. No, I didn’t make it there. During the day, it was so hot I just didn’t think I’d enjoy myself — and tonight, it rained.

Sooo, I’m checking out the Seymour/Jackson County newspaper site, Tribtown.com, to see if anything had been posted about the queen contest. I didn’t find fair queen results, but I did find a video that was quite interesting about the porn establishment in Uniontown. Seems as if the Lions Den is suing the county, stating they had lost something on the order of $300k because of the protestors. The porn palace says that the county isn’t enforcing regulations insofar as what they have allowed the protestors to do; therefore, they should be awarded damages resulting from loss of income. It’s my guess that things are going to get a bit more interesting at some point in the not-so-distant future. Nothing in our legal system happens quickly, but at least this lawsuit might spur some movement.

I’ve not been a part of the protestors efforts, but I absolutely admire their perseverance. They are a dedicated group that are fighting a battle against big business, and no matter if you agree with their position or think they are a bunch of crazies with too much time on their hands — you still gotta respect the fact that they are hanging in there, fighting for something they believe in.
