Woke this morning to the sound of my son’s voice in the foreground — tornado warning sirens in the background. The first storm of the day (this wonderful ::cough:: weather is to continue through to 8:00 PM) was going through his area, headed toward the Ville. Strong winds associated with this band of precipitation had both dogs pacing and nervous, amplified by my own concern as the sky darkened to the point the outdoor rope lighting around the back deck came on.
As the local news warned me to go to a basement I don’t have, away from windows I do have, I instead watched the storm approach, face planted with camera against the office window. So awesome — I could see a sheet of rain just across the back field before a drop fell here. Once the band crossed overhead it got pretty nasty. I learned that it doesn’t matter how old you are, or how old your kids are — you still think they should be with you during severe weather.
