It was Friday night, I don’t remember the exact time. The pesky neighbors had driven for about 14 hours, had just arrived home about an hour before, and had jobs they needed some help with. When the phone rang, I expected it to be the “report for duty” message, but instead, it was from the mini meatloaf diva. She was already in the driveway.
Knowing my birthday was the following day, this meatloaf diva walked in with a full plate of ding dong cupcakes, twice-baked potatoes that are to die for and… a whole bunch of mini meatloaves!! Even though I’d already eaten dinner, I had a potato and a ding dong cupcake and later that night, I savored my first mini meatloaf. The coolest thing is… yesterday, after working outside in the yard most of the day and being so tired I certainly didn’t want to cook — there was a huge plate of mini meatloaves in the refrigerator calling my name.
As I said before — my birthday was amazing. A new iPad (that I’m sure you’ll hear more about later — thanks, Perry, Ben, Amber, Coco, & Coty!), a gift certificate from my favorite brother and family (gotta love having money to spend for new gadgets) and good food (you’re awesome, Alisa, a.k.a. meatloaf goddess) — and of course, the thoughtful phone calls and messages were fabulous too — and ensured I enjoyed my special day.
