tomorrow is more of the same

Here in the Ville we are under an excessive heat warning, a no-burn notice, and it’s an ozone action day. At 11:30 PM EST, it’s still 93 degrees.

…RECORD BREAKING HEAT EXPECTED AGAIN ON FRIDAY…
A LARGE RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE IS BRINGING PARTS OF CENTRAL
INDIANA THE HOTTEST WEATHER SINCE THE 1930S. NO MATTER WHERE YOU
ARE…IT WILL AT LEAST BE THE HOTTEST SINCE 1988.

Did you get that? Hottest since the 1930s you guys. I certainly don’t remember the 1930s… and while I can absolutely remember 1988, it’s not like I can remember it being miserable hot or anything. If you’ve never been out west where 120 isn’t shocking, and you wonder if those who tell you it’s a “different heat” are lying, the answer is NO. It’s hot, but it’s NOT like this.

While I can’t recall it being scorching hot in 1988, I DO remember the blizzard of 1978. I remember that every single one of my family members were stranded someplace away from home except for me and my Mom. A couple days of being snowed-in together (fearing that we would lose electricity at any second) was stressful for the both of us. Of course, back then I figured I was the only one suffering being stuck alone with Mom. Most likely, she couldn’t wait to get away from me either.

I’m curious — if you live in Indiana, do you remember where you were during the extreme heat in 1988? And, do you remember where you were during the blizzard 10 years earlier in 1978?
