Moles are annoying, destroy all kinds of stuff, and don’t deserve to be named. The mole dude using my flower beds as his own personal tunneling playground is elusive and destructive. The second I get his mess cleaned up and the mulch spread back out like it’s supposed to be… he comes along and moves it all around again. One of the pesky neighbors suggested standing guard with a shovel (like I have time for that).
Reading online I found that traps are suggested along with poisons to get rid of these annoying rodents. I was thinking more along the lines of repellant… like getting mole dude to go to the pesky neighbors where someone has time to stand around with a shovel, and I won’t feel responsible for the death of the critter. Other than planting castor bean plants (wondering if accidental ingestion of this plant by a 2 year-old would cause a dangerous bout of diarrhea), it reads as if marigolds (the least attractive flower I can think of) acts as a repellant as well.
If anyone has a better suggestion, please share. In addition, if you have an idea how to get rid of robins (that poop on EVERYTHING), please pass that along too. Remember, I don’t have enough ‘country girl’ in me to kill babies. No matter what kind of babies they are.
