Money

Nov 12, 2008

Money is on everyone’s mind right now. The root of all evil. We can talk about how the economy is bad, but unless it affects us — I mean REALLY makes a life change for us — we go on about our day, complain when gas and groceries go up, and that’s pretty much the extent of it.

What brought this to my mind and to this blog is the whole GM bailout thing. On one hand, I’m wondering why we should bail a company out of a financial crisis for making a substandard product, or for not producing a design that is at least on par with its competition. On the other hand, I think about what will happen should the government NOT bail them out. Like how it will affect my selfish bad self.

I think of the ‘what if’s’. What if my son loses his job and moves he and his wife (cat and bird) in with me? I would of course allow it, but I can promise that I would hate it as much as they would hate doing it. And what about those less fortunate? Scary, scary stuff…
