the paint train keeps rollin’

My “to do” list for prepping the house to sell is getting shorter. I’ve painted… and painted… and painted. And, I’ve had so much help!

There are some rooms that need no attention… 2 hall bathrooms, the utility room, the mud/dog room, Coco’s room, and the exercise (4th bedroom) room. The outside shrubs have all been trimmed. Off my list is the kitchen (already shared photos of it), and now I can cross off the office…

Office is done!

And the living room…

Living room is DONE!

And I’ve even painted the ceiling in the family room! The jury is still out on my favorite paint in the house… the purple.

Before I remove the last little pop of personality — since I’ve painted EVERYTHING in neutral tones — I’m going to finish today’s project. The big ole’ fireplace rework. Not gonna lie… I’m nervous about it but oh, so committed!

In other news, today is International Dog Day — and it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t share my 2 favorites. Especially since they’ve worked so hard these past few weeks!

Happy dog day to my employees

Daily new COVID-19 cases (7 day moving average):
Indiana-14.0 (up); Jackson Co – 12.9 (down); Florida 17.8 (way down); Nevada – 18.8 (down)

TIL (today I learned):

On this very day…

On this very day…

On this day 13-years ago, Sherry was at my house in Crothersville helping with a bridal shower. When looking at my “on this day” photo reminders, I realize that for all my complaining about Ben making a face in every photo — he got it honestly.

An on this very day 5-years ago, Dharma was born! Happy birthday, you wonderful (albeit husky) girl!

And two days ago from this very day I finished painting the kitchen. I’m now in recovery mode.

Daily new COVID-19 cases (7 day moving average):

TIL (today I learned): The most extreme case of sexual size dimorphism found in nature is… the blanket octopus. Females can reach over 6 feet and the males are the size of walnuts. The reason the males remain small isn’t understood, but some feel it’s because they spend their energy looking for other females instead of growing. (I’m trying not to apply this to humans.) Don’t believe me? Read about it here…

it really WAS teddy in the attic

it really WAS teddy in the attic

Perry made his trip to the attic today to investigate the appearance of something in that top window that we noticed in a photo I took. You know what I’m talking about, right? I shared the photo in my last post. Here it is again…

Something in the window.

Well… you guys… there was NOTHING up there. What you think you see in that photo is not really there at all. It’s all a figment of your (and MY) imagination. Or… our eyes are playing tricks on us. My eyes see PVC pipe, fittings, and connectors. And maybe even Teddy standing behind laughing maniacally… or maybe not. 😉

Here’s the only thing behind that window. (No, not a guillotine, just some board there for some unknown reason.)

There's nothing in the window!

So next I bought Jack Skellington Christmas paper! Not only because we’re having a Disney Christmas — but also because Jack is sorta scary. Just like whatever is living in my attic moving non-existent plumbing around.

what’s a typical saturday supposed to look like?

Started my day off with a cup of coffee. I tried the new Nitro Creamer by Redi Whip and it’s not bad. So I had another cup. And then, I fixed a couple eggs over medium for breakfast. Dharma loves licking the plate when I’m finished (don’t freak out — it was paper!). So excited to get human food, she ended up flicking tiny pieces of egg all over the place. Including a piece on her eyebrow that’s still there two hours later.

After folding a load of clothes, I pulled out my trusty Dyson vacuum. It took a shit before I even finished the kitchen and the fireworks display upon its final breath was impressive. It’s ready to go out with the trash next Friday and the exact replacement is $700 bucks. Yay!

Now I’m out of the mood to finish cleaning house. I’ve decided I’m simply going to enjoy the view for a bit.

Is this what a typical Saturday is supposed to look like? Sheesh… I hope not! While coffee might be the highlight of a Monday… I expect more on a Saturday.

One good thing to look forward to is an extra hour of sleep as we “fall back” for daylight savings. Also, it’s not even 1:30 PM ET yet so who knows what other amazing things await. Happy Saturday, you guys!

Hilary Farr and Joanna Gaines have not been here

Hilary Farr and Joanna Gaines have not been here

From Chip and Joanna’s ‘Fixer Upper’ to Hilary Farr of ‘Love it or list it,’ I’ve noticed one thing interior designers on HGTV have in common. Lots of white and neutral wall colors. Pops of color are added with throw pillows, rugs and wall decor.

Every single time I think I’ll go a light neutral color on my walls, I ditch that fleeting thought almost as soon as it ebbs into my head. And still, I’ve yet to be approached for my own show. 😉

If interior colors chosen are a reflection of the decorator’s personality, then I’m dark. So very dark…

The vibrating chartreuse green color in my laundry room is now… black. Limousine Leather to be exact. While I probably should’ve chosen a color closer to the butterfly I captured resting on a plant, I simply didn’t.

When I’m 100% sure I’m going to list this place, it’s gonna take at least 25 gallons of boring ole’ taupe to cover everything I’ve done here. In the meantime, I figure I’ll just let my dark, bad self just keep painting the walls whatever color suits me when the brush reaches my hand.
