Yesterday was amazing! Temps peaked at almost 70° even though the morning started out in the low 40’s. Here in southern Indiana, we’re at that point where no one knows exactly how to dress. We’re still a bit over a week before the first day of spring, but yesterday afternoon felt like we were there already. The morning? Still winter.

My favorite brother thought he was taking me down a notch.

Our sunset last night was so pretty I sent a photo to Scott & Tammy…

He reciprocated by sending a photo of his sunset (he’s in California to speak at an event)…

I’ll betcha he thought his view was so much better than mine.

Little did he know that I’d pick what I have right here in good ole’ C’ville over what he had in San Francisco any day of the week. ❤️

Now you know: In 2022 a man won a free drink in an air-guitar competition while on a cruise, which is his last memory before waking up overboard in the Gulf of Mexico without the ship in sight. He treaded water for 18 hours & was stung by two swarms of jellyfish all over his legs & arms before being rescued.

the one morning i could sleep… i couldn’t. ARG!

the one morning i could sleep… i couldn’t. ARG!

After I’d posted yesterday that there would be no 2:00 AM with the DST change, I couldn’t believe my eyes when my watch said it was 3:00 AM and I was still up. Brushing my teeth before crawling into bed is when I remembered DST had struck and there really WAS no 2:00 AM.

Because Ben had to work, it was my responsibility to get Coco to meet her Mom on time in Franklin. I barely woke up in time. I’m not a big sleeper and when I actually can sleep it’s wonderful. I’ve never been a morning person.

This morning, I was sleeping so good when I realized I had to get up or be late. No time for lingering cups of coffee to get my morning jump started! After that, everything has felt off all day.

The good news is — I wasn’t late!

I even sent a photo to Ben at work so he would know I safely delivered the precious cargo. He doesn’t care if I make it back home alive — his only concern is about his baby. 🙄

Did today — the 1st day of daylight savings time — feel “off” to you too?

almost a full week without a car and i survived

almost a full week without a car and i survived

When my favorite brother drove 3 hours one way to celebrate Jerilyn & Tader’s 40th anniversary, I thought that was just great. Upon leaving, they noticed they had a flat tire. Their Lexus has run flats and no spare. Problem is, even though Mr. Pesky came to the rescue to air up the tire, there was no running flat left.

I loaned them my car rather than any of us driving 6 hours there and back.

A wrecker picked up their vehicle and took it to the nearest dealership… Louisville… another hour away from where they currently live. Other challenges prevented them picking up the car until today. That meant I was without wheels for almost an entire week!

I don’t need to drive a lot — I don’t have a job that requires it. Still, there’s something about not being able to go somewhere if you want to that is miserable.

Now that my mini is home, I hardly recognize her.

As soon as I opened the car door I could smell that she’d been detailed. You could eat off the floor mats. Come to find out, my favorite sister-in-law detailed it from top to bottom. Scott said he even saw her with a toothbrush! That’s about the nicest thing I’ve had done for me in a long time. ❤️

It’s so clean that Merida thinks a stranger is here…

Now you know: An early Irish legal text allowed for a pregnant woman to steal limited amounts of food if she had a craving for it.

it was a pillow explosion!

Katie always travels back and forth with her two dogs — Willie and Shadow — between where she’s living now in Tennessee, and back home in southern Indiana. Her hounds love it in the ville but are always glad to get back home too. After planning the anniversary party for her parents, taking care of the dogs belonging to her best friend who had a new baby, and generally trying to see everyone she misses when she’s gone, she headed back to Tennessee yesterday afternoon.

She got one last snuggle before hitting the road…

Katie and the baby

When she got back home yesterday evening, her hounds massacred a pillow and she had feathers everywhere. Already tried after a road trip, she had a new mess and another reason to wish she wasn’t alone in a state 4 hours away.

It makes me feel awful when she leaves and it’s not just because I miss her. She’s ready to come back home. While she loves Tennessee, she’s homesick for Indiana family and friends. And she won’t be back until June! 😭

One last photo from the anniversary party…

While I didn’t take photos, someone did — and they shared a few with me. Just one more for the road toward 40 more years of blissful (?) marriage for the happy (?) couple.

Now you know: UK teenager Olivia Farnsworth has a rare condition known as chromosome 6 deletion, which causes her to not feel hunger, pain, or a sense of danger. She is the only known person in the world who possesses all three of these symptoms together.

40 years is a long darned time

Jerilyn & Tader have been married 40 years! FORTY YEARS!

Surprise party!

Jonathan and his wife, Ashley, along with Katie planned a surprise party at the VFW to celebrate. There were so many people there I had to park a bajillion miles away. It was wonderful to see all my family and friends.

I should’ve taken more photos — but I did get one of classmates. ❤️

And one of Jerilyn…

Katie sent this one so we at least know the happy couple were there together. 🙂

Happy anniversary, Jerilyn & Tader — here’s to 40 more!
