don’t be uncool

don’t be uncool

I know you’ve seen the Rob Lowe commercials reference cable and DIRECTV® — right? No one wants to be “Crazy Hairy Rob Lowe” or “Scrawny Arms Rob Lowe” or even “Creepy Rob Lowe” because that’s so uncool.

So today, allow me, Shelley, to share 2 simple business suggestions. Think of them as a self-improvement commercials that aren’t video and have nothing to do with cable or DIRECTV®.

  1. You receive an email with alternate meeting options accompanied by a request to let the sender know what option you prefer. Instead, you send out a meeting invite that includes 4 people. You responded the way YOU wanted to, not caring that the sender of that email doesn’t want a damn meeting invite that creates pop-up notifications on their phone, the iPad their granddaughter is playing on, their laptop and their desktop — because they use a different scheduling platform that you do. We’ll call you “Inconsiderate Overbearing Shelley.” Don’t be Inconsiderate Overbearing Shelley. Pay attention to the requests of others, and don’t be arrogant and inconsiderate of others.
  2.

  3. You receive paperwork from a company that includes 6 specific pages of information. You need one of those particular pages but rather than look through the paperwork, you instead send an email asking that same person to resend that one page. It will save you time because you’re not paying attention. We’ll call you “Lazy Slacker Shelley.” Don’t be Lazy Slacker Shelley. Take that extra minute to do things yourself rather than push your tasks off on someone else.

It’s only 2 simple things and it’s not too late to add these to your 2015 list of resolutions. It’s ok if you call it an addendum.

springing forward on monday

Spring forward and fall back. AND it’s Monday. Not a fan of daylight savings time, I figure it’s all about perception. Like making everyone THINK you’re enjoying working on a Monday starting an hour earlier…

what others think

When the REAL way you feel about it more closely resembles this…

how you really feel

Happy first Monday of daylight savings time, you guys.
