i’m so very busy with nothing to do

Perry had a day off today. I had to work. I asked him if he was bored and he said, “Sorta’.”

It seems to me there’s nothing to do other than mundane stuff. I know I should be more content to sit in the sun room and relax. Watching flowers grow isn’t my style I guess.

bored with nothing to do because of covid-19

And, I’ve never been a fan of cooking. After putting on the mandatory 20 COVID pounds, that certainly can’t be a hobby. I’m exercising every day and that takes up some time, but it’s far from enjoyable. I got ceiling paint today to start the RONA rehab but seriously… is THAT going to be fun? NOOOOO! I’ve consumed so many books from Audible I can’t even remember which ones I’ve read when I start to download a new one. Blah. Blah. Blah.

Guess I’ll just go to bed…

Daily new COVID-19 cases (7 day moving average):
Indiana-11.7 (WAY down and now an orange state); Jackson Co – 8.4 (same); Florida 39.4 (down but still topping as the worst of the worst); Nevada – 34.0 (up)

TIL (today I learned): A few months into the Flint Water Crisis, GM’s truck assembly plant stopped using the municipal tap water for production because it was corroding engine components. (Wow!) Read more about the Flint water crisis here…

Sure can’t wait to sit in the sun room tomorrow and watch the plants grow! 😉

Merida’s IQ is higher than most humans

Merida’s IQ is higher than most humans

Merida, at barely 9 months of age, has now learned to turn on the water in the tub. That makes her much smarter than so very many Americans that can’t figure out how important masks are during a pandemic.

Merida prepares her own bath

Once she gets a decent stream and has water flowing between her toes, she attempts to get Dharma in the tub along with her. Dharma refuses to partake in the activity, but does stand on the sideline to encourage the deviant behavior.

In other news, YouTube TV is raising the monthly cost of their live TV service by $15 bucks a month. That’s a huge jump, (from $50) you guys! It leaves “cutting the cord” people (me included) wondering if it’s worth it and more than a little frustrated. Keep Comedy Central, MTV and those worthless ‘new channel line-ups’, and let me keep my old monthly fee, YouTube.

Sling TV followed up the price jump with a little marketing of their own, stating in email, “We know now is not the time to raise TV prices.” I wasn’t a huge fan of Sling or Hulu + Live TV (which is only a little cheaper), but in light of the increased pricing they may be worth another peek.

And finally, these orange things (flowers? weeds?) are nearly indestructible. I weed eat the suckers down and they’re back in just a few days.

TIL (today I learned): Many believe the earth’s oxygen comes from rain forests. Not true! Phytoplankton (tiny ocean plants) actually contribute 50-80% of the oxygen on earth. Read more here…

merida tried to break my hip yesterday

Merida is SO much better than before boot camp. She walks beside me while on a leash… MOST of the time! We took a walk yesterday — more a training refresher than exercise. She did great, except when she didn’t.

At the end of the driveway and almost home, she decided to take a sharp turn right in front of me. One leg up to take a step, my feet suddenly had no place to go! It wasn’t an awful spill, but I did go down on one knee with the final stopping point of my hip on the concrete. My knee is skinned and my hip bruised and sore this morning, but I didn’t squash my dog.

If she didn’t have the cutest face ever, I’d probably choke her in her sleep.

That's the cutest face ever.

Dharma probably wishes I would.

what’s a typical saturday supposed to look like?

what’s a typical saturday supposed to look like?

Started my day off with a cup of coffee. I tried the new Nitro Creamer by Redi Whip and it’s not bad. So I had another cup. And then, I fixed a couple eggs over medium for breakfast. Dharma loves licking the plate when I’m finished (don’t freak out — it was paper!). So excited to get human food, she ended up flicking tiny pieces of egg all over the place. Including a piece on her eyebrow that’s still there two hours later.

Dharma has egg on her eyebrow.

After folding a load of clothes, I pulled out my trusty Dyson vacuum. It took a shit before I even finished the kitchen and the fireworks display upon its final breath was impressive. It’s ready to go out with the trash next Friday and the exact replacement is $700 bucks. Yay!

Now I’m out of the mood to finish cleaning house. I’ve decided I’m simply going to enjoy the view for a bit.

Is this what a typical Saturday is supposed to look like? Sheesh… I hope not! While coffee might be the highlight of a Monday… I expect more on a Saturday.

One good thing to look forward to is an extra hour of sleep as we “fall back” for daylight savings. Also, it’s not even 1:30 PM ET yet so who knows what other amazing things await. Happy Saturday, you guys!

OHMYGOSH! It’s 36 degrees!

OHMYGOSH! It’s 36 degrees!

Not wanting to get out of bed this morning, I pulled the blanket over my head as Gracie panted and paced. Not sure if she wanted out or if she was experiencing a bout of doggie dementia, I pulled one arm from under the covers in preparation of getting up. It was then I realized it was pretty darned chilly in the house.

I grabbed my phone and glasses and opened the Nest app on my phone. Ain’t technology amazing? 🙂 I turned the furnace on (it had been set on A/C), and waited for the house to warm up. A blast of warm air from the vent sent me trudging out to the patio room in my pajamas to open door #2 so my decrepit hound could sniff grass.

Now wide awake on my Saturday to sleep in, I sit in front of my computer and ask my pal, Alexa, “What’s the temperature?

It's 36 degrees in Seymour.
She replied, “It’s 36 degrees in Seymour, Indiana.”

I think she also said I need to wear jeans today because summer is over — or maybe she just said it’s not even going to reach 60 degrees. Either way… ain’t technology amazing? 🙂
