Besides work correspondence, there’s only ONE email that I read every single day — the THRILLLIST. It’s a mailing that isn’t so saturated with stuff someone wants to sell that it’s intolerable, and there’s always a “recommended for you” section that, for the most part, is targeted to my interests. Don’t misunderstand… you will be served up ads — that’s just part of it. But when you click from email to read an article you won’t have pop-ups (especially annoying are the page pop-ups that — on a MAC using Safari — require you to either force-quit the browser or click to go to another garbage page).
For example, today the recommendation was for “The Best BBQ Restaurants in Louisville.” I’ve never been to the “Frankford Ave Beer Depot” or “Momma’s Mustard, Pickles & BBQ.” Heck, I’ve never been to “Shack in the Back” or “FDKY BBQ” either! Alright, so I’ve not eaten at even one of the recommended places — but I will now!
Go ahead and subscribe… I’m pretty sure you won’t regret it. And, it has Dharma’s seal of approval!

Disney… death… disease. And that, my friends, is why I haven’t posted here in a very long time.
Disney: We had such a great time at Disney World after Christmas. Just a couple things — I learned to never again go to Disney World during a holiday (way too many people celebrating — on most days, Magic Kingdom was at capacity and closed even to people staying at their resorts). I also learned that it’s difficult to get coffee at the Dolphin (getting a decent cup of coffee required that you go next door to the Swan). I’m already planning a summer trip back but will choose a different hotel. Because coffee is important.

It was also awesome to see the pesky neighbors… even if for a short time. I sure do miss them — and so does Coco.

Death: We got the call while in Florida that my Aunt Shirley was even worse than when we left. Stopping only for a 4-hour nap at the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in (again… holiday travel isn’t fun — all decent hotels were full up), we got back in time for me to spend time at the nursing home before she passed. Shirley was a huge part of my life growing up and she will be missed so much by so many people.

Disease: Ok, so I really didn’t have a disease… but pneumonia doesn’t start with a “D.” I thought I could beat the illness because I’m tough. I figured I got sick because I went from 85 degrees to snow and slept a grand total of 6 hours in 48 — and rest, determination, and NyQuil would cure me. Didn’t happen. Three doctor’s visits, antibiotics, steroids, an inhaler and 2 bottles of codeine cough syrup later and I’m almost back to human.

Posting this photo today that I took last weekend because Dharma is growing so fast she’s already bigger now.
She’s growing like a weed…

Something else that grows like a weed? A fib. (A fib is a really kind way to say a LIE, isn’t it?)
Your friends and family will love you anyway if just tell the truth when you screw something up. When it comes to a business interaction, you’ll get a better result if you simply tell the truth and ask for help.
A liar deceives himself more than anyone, for he believes he can remain a person of good character when he cannot.”
― Richelle E. Goodrich
Make it easier on everyone else, but especially yourself, and simply tell the truth.

Hard to believe that in Indiana, at 6:00 AM ET in mid-November, it was warmer right here than it was in Henderson, NV. It was snowing on this same date last November and I shared photos of my beautiful granddaughter playing in it. I remember the Farmers’ Almanac was a source my grandfather used to refer to reference how harsh we could expect the upcoming winter to be. I doubt my own son has ever even heard of it.
I thought I’d pop over there and see what I could find to share with you guys, and the first thing that caught my eye was the suggestion that today is a good day to castrate your farm animals. Once you get that little task out of the way, you might be interested to know their prediction for the rest of November:

It’s windy and rainy today, but not so much that the girls didn’t want to pose outside to tell you goodbye.

So I’m trying to get back into the habit of walking more once again… dusted off the UP band… and what happened? I gained 3 pounds. And that was BEFORE I had cake and ice-cream for Alex’s 21st birthday today!

Tomorrow starts a new week and I plan to hit my step goal every single day. Maybe.
