i am a living caps lock

I’m a sucker for stupid, quickie quizzes that prove absolutely nothing. More snow predicted to be incoming for my current location, I figure the quiz “What State Do You Actually Belong In” would prove interesting and maybe even a bit insightful.

I am the biggest and baddest

Whenever I think about relocating, the State of Texas has never entered my mind. Not even close in the running. But hey… at least it didn’t tell me I should stay in Indiana or move to someplace with even worse weather than we are experiencing here in Indiana this year (like maybe Atlanta!).

What State Do You Actually Belong In?

i’ve been absent

The office has gotten incredibly busy — my mobility is non-existent. While that might’ve translated into a more regular schedule of posts here, it didn’t. Instead, any free time away from work (always performed in front of the computer) was spent in any manner that got me away from the computer.

This past week can be summed up in one simple photograph:

perry loves snow

Winter Tip:
Bald dudes should wear a hat when shoveling snow.

i sure do miss her

Today would’ve been my Nanny’s birthday. I sure do miss her. So many warm thoughts at the mention of her name — so many lessons she taught me. I think the older I get, the more like Nanny I become… not sleeping at night and simply loving to be at “home” to name just two.

i caught part of this episode of Ellen…

I never watch TV during the day, but yesterday was different. Checking FB during a late lunch break I read a post from an obviously scared Purdue student telling her family and friends that although she was ok, there had been a shooting at her university. I immediately turn on the TV to learn more and watch the press release. The hashtag #PrayforPurdue is so fitting. What a sad and tragic day for the Boilermakers.

After the press release, I got busy doing a few things and didn’t really notice the TV’s sound at all — until I looked up and saw that Ellen was on and right in the middle of “Hot Glam Girl.” I had no clue what I watching but it only took a couple mullets and crazy bell-bottom jeans to figure it out. Struck with THE BEST IDEA EVER, I start digging through old pictures on my hard drive looking for this one image in particular. The photo I’m desperate to find is of my (then) poofy-headed cousin, Jerilyn, sporting a red bandana tied around her neck that perfectly matches the red bow the big ole cow is wearing that’s decorating her sweatshirt.

And that’s when I found this instead…

who is that with Ellen??

my treacherous trip to work

Ok, so I walk from the bedroom to the kitchen for coffee and then down the hall to the office. But it’s uphill both ways, you guys! I do really feel sorry for those who must drive to work when it’s snowing like it is today — I feel even worse for those who work 3rd shift and walk out prepared for a drive home (usually when it’s still dark) and find these conditions. It’s 12 degrees right now and the wind is howling… blowing the powdery white stuff into drifts that cover up any previous attempts to clear a path. Nothing deep — just bitter cold with blowing snow thrown in for good measure. Well played, Mother Nature.

it's nasty out there

Even for this girl that loves snow… I’ve had enough already. About the only thing to do (after business hours, of course) is to work on this undertaking that entails filling up a glass container. (In case you’re wondering, I didn’t just start the project yesterday.)
