I love snow. I don’t necessarily love winter, but if it’s going to be cold, them gimme’ some snow. Now I don’t mean little baby flakes that make a skiff on the ground that blows around with wind — or even great big flakes that melt before they hit the ground. I want some REAL snow!
The Peskies got more than I did (AGAIN!) and they’re about 14 miles south of me. Perry sent me a photo from Madison, about 40-miles east of me. Nothing record breaking, but it was at least noticeable…
What did I get? I got enough to dust the shrubs and rooftops and it was gone before 10:00 AM.
This is more what I have in mind Mother Nature — see if you can deliver next time.
Taken out the back door of my old C’ville home more than a minute ago.
How severe the pandemic is in the places where people I care about are located…
Daily NEW COVID-19 cases (7 day moving average): Indiana-68.0 (down); Jackson Co – 52.0 (down); Florida 67.5 (down); Nevada – 70.1 (down)
All down for once. Yippee!
TIL (Today I Learned): Ore-Ida invented tater tots to make use of the leftover potato shavings from their French fries production.
If the peskies are in Florida, they love to talk to me and brag about their weather. Even now, when it’s 13 freaking degrees on a day I wanted snow — they made sure to send me a photo of what they got and I didn’t.
With the holiday behind us, I’m feeling more down in the dumps than I have in a good long while. I really look forward to Christmas, and then we always have a Disney trip booked to look forward to right after. This year, there’s no Mickey in my immediate future. Not gonna’ lie… I’m feeling pretty blue. 🙁
I know things will get better and figure we’ll make it there late 2021. Still, it’s depressing… and I’m just not one to get down over much of anything. I’m the one with plan B and C for back-ups — but there’s simply no back-up COVID plan other than having toilet paper and Clorox wipes. Isn’t it a crazy time?
This is the first year in the last 14 (or 15) I haven’t went with Perry to see his family on Christmas Day. Instead, this year he cooked on his new Blackstone and probably got frostbite on his ears. I did the prep in the warm kitchen and figure that’s fair.
I hope more people (including me) don’t get the Rona after the holiday. I wasn’t around anyone other than Ben, Colette and Perry (the usual trio) but noticed on Facebook a whole lot of people celebrating with large groups. I also noticed a whole lot of other people like me — just spending time with immediate family. I’m sure looking forward to the time we can celebrate the birth of Jesus with all our loved ones.
And finally, Mom spent her time in the ER this evening after injuring her arm. She’s ok, but I think Carl is ordering a couple cases of bubble wrap. I’m still trying to convince him to get one of those inflatable sumo wrestling fat suits instead. 😉 Her ER doc did say he thought they would have the vaccine available to them by late January. Who knows how soon people under 65 years-old and not an essential worker will be able to get one.
How severe the pandemic is in the places where people I care about are located…
Daily NEW COVID-19 cases (7 day moving average): Indiana-75.8 (down); Jackson Co – 81.4 (down) — 8.19% infected (up); Florida 52.8 (up); Nevada – 70.9 (down)
TIL (today I learned): There was only one episode of Seinfeld that did not feature George. Jason Alexander threatened to leave the show if the writers ever turned in another script that excluded his character.
I awoke this morning to snow. Not lots — but enough to make me happy. I’d rather have 1/2 foot as opposed to a 1/2 inch, but you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.
Before I even got to snap a photo my favorite son called. The conversation consisted of him saying, “WHAT?” a whole bunch and telling me I sounded muffled. He also said I sounded like a robot at times.
I knew my amazing iPhone 11 MAX seemed to be having a little issue. I listen to audiobooks often and I just couldn’t get the sound up loud enough. I didn’t think I was going deaf… I didn’t have a problem hearing anything else.
After my call, I took off the case assuming there was dirt in the mic and speakers. But no! This is what I found instead…
I’ll just trade it in, me thinks, and get the iPhone 12 MAX. Wrong again! My $1300 iPhone is now only recyclable. Any case damage and they don’t want it. I’ll call tomorrow and see if I can get it repaired somewhere, but in the meantime, I’m sporting a Samsung Note 10+.
For the record — and sorry to all you Android lovers — this is a POS. There’s currently not a phone out that that can compare to an iPhone. Period.
The pretty snow that got me excited to start the day… and that I finally got a photo of… was the highlight of an otherwise craptastic day.
TIL (today I learned): Kid Rock was not actually raised poor or in a trailer. He grew up in a 5600 square foot home on a six-acre estate. His real name is Robert James Ritchie and his dad owned multiple car dealerships.
This is Merida’s first snowfall experience! Dharma plans on showing her everything she knows about wintertime. I’m pretty sure they’re discussing the benefits of frozen poopscicles right now.
Twelve degrees right now is a big warm-up from yesterday. It’s REALLY cold here in southern Indiana.
Brrrr!
Random fact of the day: Did you know that only brown fat keeps you warm? Most of the fat in our body is white (found under the skin and surrounding internal organs). Brown fat is mainly found in babies… and chocolate labs.
Speaking of fat — Weight Watchers came out with two new plan variations. You can pick what works best for you — the purple plan (tons of no point foods but you get almost NO points to spend), the green plan (limited number of no point foods but more daily points) or just stay on the blue plan (moderate list no point foods and dailies). If you switch, they say you should try the plan for 2 weeks. I’ve had 3 plans in 2 days.
My favorite brother is team purple where he gets to eat a whole bunch of tasteless crap. I bailed on that plan because who eats oatmeal without brown sugar and milk? I bailed on green because my typical breakfast went from 4 points to 12 (over half of what you get for the day on that plan). Guess I’ll stick with team blue. But only because fat doesn’t keep you warm.
And finally, Disney + launched yesterday! Yippee! Just last night we watched the very first Star Wars movie, Moana (for the bajillionith time) and a documentary. What else is there to do when you’re only moderately fat and it’s 9 degrees F?
