hee haw had it right all those years ago

Gloom, despair, and agony on me. Deep, dark depression, excessive misery. If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all… That song was played on Hee Haw for 20 some years on TV — so if you’re old like me, the tune is now trolling your brain.

It sure seems like there’s a ton of chaos going on in the world right now. And, there’s plenty of places to read all about it other than here. Let me just say that while my life is far from perfect, there’s nothing that’s totally awful going on either… unless you count that Hugo is in love with fuzzy covers. Especially the nice ones from Macy’s…

The Pacers lost and I’m staying out of the sun. ☀️

The Pacers lost their game last night and my favorite brother will probably be in mourning for the next 30 days at least.

Because the spots that were frozen on my face aren’t supposed to be in the sun until they’ve healed (easy to cover up the ones on my shoulder), I’ve refrained from being outside for the past week. It’s making me CRAZY! It’s especially bad because the pool is finally warm enough to swim in — and Perry took care of the yard last week (something I like doing).

But it could be a whole lot worse! My A/C is hanging in there keeping us cool, and I have fast Internet…

There are always things to be thankful for!

Now you know: The TV show Hee Haw aired from 1969 to 1997. It debuted on CBS in 1969 and continued in syndication for over 20 years. A total of 656 episodes were produced.

i’m not the only one that hates FB has turned so political

i’m not the only one that hates FB has turned so political

Yesterday, I made a simple post on FB that said:

To all my friends who share political posts like it’s their job: You’re still my friend; however, I’d just like for you to know that I’d enjoy your opinions more if they were about your kids, grandkids, and dogs.  🙂 Am I the only one that feels this way?

I shared a photo of Dharma (that I shared here already), but you get the idea, right?

Hugo and Merida

I found out that I’m not the only one!

People replied with photos of dogs, kids and grandkids. My buddy Alisa shared the cutest video of her grandkids ever! She even shared more photos when I asked. A classmate responded that her grandson is playing in a baseball tournament this weekend. How cool is that?

Of course, you can share whatever you want… I’m not the FB police. But when EVERY SINGLE THING you share harps on the same stuff, it wears me out. Friends I KNOW are on opposite sides of the political arena contributed… agreeing they’re tired of it too. It was fun seeing dogs I’d never seen before… and getting to enjoy videos and photos of happy kids. Yay!

My Mom should be Mayor of California.

California’s Mayor set curfew in LA last night for 8:00 PM PT to curb the violence, looting, and more. So very many people didn’t obey and were still out and about long after the deadline.

I’m telling you guys, when my Mom set a curfew, I knew I’d better pay attention. No excuse would hold up… whatever time she set, she meant ON THE DOT. If she set a curfew for me today, I’d still be too scared to be 5 minutes late. 🙂

a scientific study hints at future therapies

a scientific study hints at future therapies

A recent groundbreaking study explains why hair turns gray as we age. Stem cells hold the power to regenerate tissues and maintain youthful features. But not all stem cells age equally! Melanocyte stem cells (McSCs) tend to fail earlier than others. The result? Gray hair! 😳

The ability of McSCs to move where they live inside of hair follicles is the key. When they can’t move, they can’t mature into melanocytes — meaning they can’t regenerate new hair color over growth cycles. As we age, the cells get stuck and stranded. (Like about everything else in the body we took for granted in our youth.)

All of my McSCs are clogged up and probably just hanging out together — lounging and shooting the breeze.

The pattern found by researchers…

If we can physically move jammed cells back to their germ compartment or enhance their motility, we might prevent or reverse graying,” says Dr. Qi Sun, lead investigator of the study.

If that becomes a possibility — I wonder if reverse baldness will someday be possible too!

Perry is bald.

The advancements may unlock other solutions.

As research progresses, who knows what solutions will be unlocked for age-related conditions?! The more researchers learn and understand about aging and cellular regenerations, the more advances become available.

In the meantime, we’re stuck using AI to address aging cosmetic concerns.

Now you know: In 2015, 18-year-old Julian Hernandez learned he was listed in a database for missing children when he met with his high school guidance counselor to apply for college. This would lead to him discovering that his dad had kidnapped him from his mom when he was 5. His dad was sentenced to 4 years.

Apple phone. Apple computer. Apple watch. Apple credit card. Ah yes, I’ve been an Apple fan girl for as long as I can remember. Today, I’m mad at them for something they didn’t do… not directly anyway.

I’m done with Goldman Sachs Bank USA.

Remember me telling you about the mysterious charge on my CC that happened back in December? To recap, a person purchased gift cards, a video game, and a “hug” using the name Diane Rimes. He/she used my virtual CC number and phone number, her/his own name and the wrong physical address to purchase items using an account that doesn’t belong to me. Of course, I can prove all this happened and provided all the information to the CC provider, Goldman Sachs.

Their claim that they will protect their customers from fraudulent charges is a lie. There’s no way a “real” person reviewed this because they let me know today that:

Your Apple Card transaction dispute investigation is complete and the merchant charge(s) will remain on your account.

I’m going to pay the nearly $200 charge, but I’m done. Apple chose Goldman Sachs — and it’s the card in my phone’s wallet that pays me cash back. I’ve had an Apple CC for as long as I can remember. This one was issued when Apple changed providers in 2019; I’ve always paid early; and this was my first fraud claim.

Because of this CC fiasco, I’ve lost some of that long-time loyalty for Apple. That’s how it works…

If one person in your company — or one of the companies you’ve chosen to represent your brand — fail to treat your customers with respect while providing exceptional service, your reputation is soiled.

I’m so done… hello, Android! 😠

tuesday randomness on the verge of springtime

tuesday randomness on the verge of springtime

Today, I’ll be throwing out thoughts that form a totally random post about nothing. First…

It won’t be long until we spring forward here in Indiana.

Sunday, March 9th is the day we lose an hour to make time for more daylight in the summer evenings. While I hate daylight savings time, I am excited because it marks the beginning of spring — a fabulous time of year in the Hoosier state.

Did you know it was first implemented in the US in 1918 as a wartime measure — not the common misconception that it was created for farmers? And did you know that it’s overseen by the US Dept. of Transportation that cites energy reduction and reduced crime as the reasons for it sticking around?

Do you ever wonder how members of congress amass wealth on $174K a year?

Members of Congress earn a base salary of $174,000 per year, which hasn’t changed since 2009. While this is well above the average American income—around $57,000 in recent years—it’s not enough on its own to explain the multimillion-dollar net worths many lawmakers accumulate. Over half of Congress members are millionaires, with a median net worth exceeding $1 million, far outpacing the typical U.S. household’s $97,000.

Do you still Google for information?

I’ve talked about ChatGPT on multiple occasions here, but I’m currently giving Grok (X, formerly Twitter) a chance. I’ve tried Gemini (Google) and Azure (Microsoft), but I’ve not dived deeply into DeepSeek (China), Claude (Anthropic) or others. I’ve found that I can get a better explanation for things I want to know about — as well as answers to questions — by using AI platforms rather than a search engine that displays links to multiple websites.

Right now, 10-20% of people opt for AI over Google for info searches, and it’s trending upward. Google is still the “go to,” handling over 8.5 billion searches per day which is about 90% of global search traffic.

If I had more time and more money, I’d be on polymarket all the time.

Polymarket is an American cryptocurrency-based prediction market, headquartered in Manhattan, New York City.  It’s the world’s largest prediction market, allowing you to stay informed and profit from your knowledge by betting on future events. From sports to politics — and everything in between — I can see how it could become addictive.

Now you know: In 2006 thieves in Buenos Aires tunneled underneath a bank & entered its vault. After a 7-hour standoff with 23 hostages, authorities entered to find $20m missing, a row of toy guns, & a note that said “In a neighborhood of rich people, without weapons or grudges, it’s just money, not love.”
