I’m so sick of wind. I’m tired of the alerts/advisories and I’m tired of having my outdoor furniture cushions in the middle of the floor in the house. Beginning Friday at 7AM and lasting through Saturday morning — we can gear up for more of the same.
I sure hope WDRB’s FB post was only an exaggeration!
Definition of tropical storm force wind per foxweather.com: A tropical storm has maximum sustained winds from 39 to 73 mph – an upgrade from a tropical depression.
Even if we have strong gusts instead of sustained winds of 39-73mph, it means the hot tub lid will remain down.
Sorry, Dharma. 🙂
C’mon spring – we’re sick of winter!
Crazy that yesterday temps reached over 75° F. It was great! This date in 2017 we had no power after a big storm rolled through and it was cold. Easter lilies are already poking through here at the barndo and March 20th — the first day of spring 2023 — is right around the corner. Yay! 🙂
TIL (Today I Learned): The Pentagon spent $170,000 in 2012 to find out why one spills coffee while walking.
It’s incredibly windy in the Ville. I’ll take wind gusts since it’s 60 degrees in February.
Duke Energy sent a text last night (for the house I own in Seymour) reminding homeowners that outages are possible do to high winds. REMC — the electric company that services the house in the Ville — sent nothing although the forecast here is the same as 12 miles north.
The reminder to secure loose outdoor items gives Duke a tad of an edge insofar as customer experience.
Rain… then bright sun… then clouds and more rain…
It’s basically just another crazy weather day that’s pretty darned normal for Indiana.
Wyze is riding on the struggle bus with Mother Nature.
Back in May, I wrote about how Wyzecam’s cloud service was creating unhappy customers. I gave them another try. At this point, Idon’t know if my current challenge is because of the way Android handles subscriptions, or if it’s because I’m like Sybil with too many email addresses, or if Wyze’s cloud service just sucks. I think it’s all of the above.
I spent 35 minutes on the phone with a customer service rep from Wyze that I could barely understand thinking it would be easy to simply transfer the products I paid for with a work email account to my personal email account that paid for the subscription — or vice versa. It’s still not fixed. ARG! 😕
Products are only good if good service is provided to customers.
Mother Nature and Wyze both provide a product/service, but neither are consistent when it comes to what I get. 😉
TIL (Today I Learned): If you think the most humid city in the US would be in Florida — you’d be wrong. The most humid city in America is San Francisco, CA.
The big scary storm is turning out to be not so scary after all. At least so far anyway. While this slushy stuff may change to snow later today, right now it’s just a whole lot of wet. I watched a Facebook video of my buddy, Alisa, making her way to work in Seymour this morning and she said all is clear.
The Weather Channel fail…
Alisa does a whole lot better relating weather conditions than weather.com. Yes, seriously. Because I HATE ads and prefer up-to-date weather info, I decided to pay for their Premium Pro Annual service. Opening up the app, I’m still getting ads… same ole’ thing I got before.
It’s nearly impossible to contact anyone there — the only link where you can email about an issue is “feedback.” Oh, I have feedback, alright! I noted my issue and promptly got a reply…
Thank you for taking the time to write to us, our team has received your request. Our goal is to respond to all questions and concerns but due to volume we may not be able to answer all inquiries. MORE THAN 90 DAYS??
It could be May before y’all fix what I paid for? I don’t think so. I gave them 24-hours and cancelled my subscription. I plan to focus my efforts on booking consulting for the company — you know… on how to treat customers. 🙄
TIL (Today I Learned): Amelia Earhart and Eleanor Roosevelt once during a White House event, commandeered an airplane, and went on a joyride to Baltimore.
Meteorologists came up a tad short with today’s forecast. We actually got more snow than predicted and y’all know that makes me happy! 🙂
I may go outside with a yardstick later (no promises!) but I’m guessing at least 3 inches and probably more?
It’s still snowing but tapering off here in the Ville around 10:00 AM and the temps are hovering right at 32 degrees. I can see there’s not a creature stirring at the Pesky Neighbor’s house.
Ben was the only one out and about on the roads this morning that I’ve spoken to. He said travel was worse early this morning than when we had the bigger snow (the sub-zero snowfall) at Christmastime. Hope everyone stays safe!
This concludes the special weather alert for 1/22/2023. 😉
