13 eggs, a little ice, cake, and a large dose of concern

I was up way too late last night reading about and watching news coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. After sleep, I was back at it again this morning and just watched President Biden’s speech. There are so many things to touch on today I’ll start at the beginning with my breakfast.

I used 13 eggs and was just cooking for myself. That’s a whole lot of eggs for one person, right?

Walmart or Doordash?

broken eggs

I ended up with 2 out of that 13 that I could use for human consumption — over 60% of the product was damaged beyond use. Someone dropped my egg carton and it was not me. This is the worst part about home delivery. You’ve already tipped and rated your driver. Eggs aren’t expensive enough they warrant the time it would require to get a refund or even complain. But it still sucks.

Ice, Ice, Baby

Schools across the county were on a delay for school today. I65 and US31 were both backed up with accidents and slow moving traffic. All gone now mid-day, but more is forecasted.

Icy conditions in Texas caused the cancellations of so many flights — and that’s where tomorrow’s event venue is located. After securing back-up flights just in case… only to see them cancel also, the original flight we secured actually took off on time. High priority now is getting said speaker from the airport to the hotel.

Perry’s birthday is today and it’s a big one. Not to give away his age or anything, today is pretty nifty for him. Happy birthday, Perry!

Your President is My President and I don’t like it.

I could’ve sworn I heard Biden say ‘pacifically’ for ‘specifically’ during his speech this afternoon. Of course, it could’ve been that all his words are slurred, his sentences run together, he rambles, and everything sounds like gibberish. I’m sure it’s different for some, but every single time I hear him talk, I have less faith in him as our leader.

It’s a good thing I have translators — otherwise, I wouldn’t have a clue what he talked about.

my Biden translators

It’s obvious Biden’s fed up with being “attacked” by the media. Dude wouldn’t make a good poker player, for sure. Even though I am not nor will ever be a Biden fan, I can still see things I feel are wrong even when he’s the target. Reporters are out of control. Disrespect and stupidity are infuriating. While I’m happy to see Biden get a bit of Trump’s medicine, it’s still a shit show every time there’s a news briefing.

The President of the United States is not supposed to tell everything known about sensitive subjects. Yet, those types of questions are still asked. So dumb! I guess it was harder to feel bad for Trump since he gave shit right back, (at least Democrats seemed to think it was ok) — but when Biden doddles off stage after hard questions, I could almost feel bad for him.

ALMOST.

TIL (Today I Learned): Unlike many other nuts and seeds, the cashew grows outside the fruit instead of inside, within a kidney-shaped drupe that hangs at the end of the cashew apple’s base. The cashew seed is surrounded by a shell containing toxic oils/acid, (same acid found in poison ivy) making processing labor-intensive, hazardous, and costly.

where are the hot corners?

where are the hot corners?

Still using the Android phone so I’m also using my Windows desktop exclusively. One of the most annoying things EVAH is the lack of hot corners. Rather than bask in the glow of a lit monitor, on an Apple, you can just move your mouse to the corner and the screensaver comes on (thus called hot corners). WTH, Windows?

Also lacking hot corners is my city where it snowed yet again last night…

19°F this morning and it’s forecasted to be 65°F by Wednesday. Crazy, right?

Super Bowl Incoming

Although Perry is working, he’ll make it in front of a TV prior to kick-off. He’s so excited and wants his Bengals to win so badly. He was off yesterday and I don’t think he moved from in front of the computer… reading everything “football” he could find… wearing a Bengals t-shirt. 🙄

Sometimes, he’ll yack about statistics and for the most part, I listen. Like… the last time the Rams won was 1999. They were in the Super Bowl in 2019 and were defeated by the Patriots. The Bengals have made it to two Super Bowl playoffs — 1981 and 1988 — and the 49ers took the win both times. (For the record, I’ll forget all this stuff by tomorrow.)

Having no football team at my high school, I’m lost quite a bit when it comes to the rules and what each call means. I know what a touchdown is and even a field goal — everything else is gray to me. I’ll say, “Was that good?” at least 100 times during the game, I’m sure.

The Rams are favored to win this year, but I’ll be rooting for the Bengals. WHO DEY! Was that good? 😉

TIL (Today I Learned): The Bengals are one of 12 teams currently in the league that do not have any Super Bowl victories in their franchise’s history.

Snowmageddon: Day 2, Afternoon

Snowmageddon: Day 2, Afternoon

City road crew made it down our street around lunch but I’ve yet to see one car pass by, although I’m sure a few have. There are no tracks in the few driveways I can see from mine, but I’m guessing town is relatively clear by now. The snow has stopped.

one pass on my street to clear snow

Today is my trash day but no way was I dragging those cans through the snow to the road. None of my surrounding neighbors had trash out either. We’ll all have LOTS next week, that’s for sure.

Merida is living her best life!

Dharma missed out on this snow run. She went back to bed after her trips outside. Her outside time is spent barking at anything that moves… squirrels, neighbor’s dogs, the trees… she steps out to own the block. Not Merida! She wants to run and play and make friends with all the stuff that Dharma barks at.

When she came in, she looked so cute we took a couple selfies.

We LOVE Snowmageddon 2022! It’s awesome.

Better yet is the fact that it’s Friday, y’all. It’s a no-work weekend.

snowmageddon 2022: Part 2, mid-afternoon

Close to 2:00 PM, temps are dropping, and it’s still sleeting. Coco wanted Eeyore on the antennae of Perry’s car at least 100 years-ago, that’s where it remains. Covered in ice with sleet bouncing off the roof all around him, Coco probably doesn’t even remember him.

Eeyore's predicament

Snow is incoming…

Meteorologists are now saying snow here is to hit a bit later than expected — around 5:00 PM or later. All we have currently is ice.

ice on twig

No clue how much the ice total is that we have so far, but it’s enough already. More power outages surrounding us but so far, we’re still good. Perry was thrilled to be scheduled off today but that doesn’t stop his phone from blowing up with call-ins for work at his store in Madison. No way he could get there today anyway.

perry's car is iced in

From the looks of things around here with the worst yet to come, he likely won’t be getting there tomorrow either. 🙂

snowmageddon 2022

Just because most humans aren’t outside working (thankful to the linemen and road crews that are) doesn’t mean that all living creatures are taking the day off. I’m just happy this little guy is gathering nuts and not chewing on power lines and cables. Those people are busy enough already.

i thought Friday forgot about coming this week

i thought Friday forgot about coming this week

This has likely been the LONGEST WEEK EVER. Not really awful — I booked a total of 5 speeches (which is awesome!) — it just felt like it dragged on and on. One highlight is we got a bit of snow last night. We had maybe a 1/2 inch by the time it quit, which was an hour or so after the photo below was taken.

about a half inch of snow

So many of my Facebook friends have COVID.

Not just a little sick, but hospital and family asking for prayers/complete healing kind of sick. So scary. One FB friend (who also rode my bus a LONG time ago), spent 30+ hours in the ER in Scottsburg… no hospital beds available there or in Louisville. Ended up transferring her to Seymour. I noticed another friend asking for prayers for both her brothers that “have a long road ahead.” 😢

So as I’m scrolling past all the sick people, I see my brother and wife shared a photo from a restaurant in Vegas with friends — and no masks. He/wife have already had COVID twice and have been vaccinated and boosted.

My favorite brother and wife

I’m still limiting my exposure, wearing a mask when I go inside places, and washing my hands like it’s my job. I just don’t feel bulletproof.

Remember to order your free COVID-19test kits if you haven’t already. When mine arrive, I’ll store them with the other two boxes I purchased right before there weren’t any available to buy. How does that work anyway? Stores and pharmacies totally sell out, and just a couple short weeks later the federal government has bajillions of them to ship for free?
