In mourning…

Upon a quick check of the bird nest today, we discovered that it was empty. Those babies weren’t big enough to fly away, and Mommie birds don’t carry their babies to re-hide them like cats do to their kittens. No feathers or evidence of a brutal attack either. Poking around under the bush didn’t reveal anything — not even one of them carelessly fell to his/her death. I’m thinking snake… Anyone have a better suggestion? ::cringe::
