Thinking about the economy…

My brother, Scott McKain, released a podcast today that offers insight on the effect that attitude has on economic conditions. Interesting stuff! Take a listen.

Birthday Boy

Yesterday was a big day for one of those pesky neighbors. Carl had a birthday — it was number 59!! I picked up a cake and had it decorated to say, “Carl is Old!” Now Carl was pretty happy about the whole celebration thing. Certainly he wasn’t this cheerful about turning the ripe old age of 59!

Cake and ice-cream, a few ferocious games of euchre (that consisted of me being his partner and us waxing our opponents!), and a dip in the pool rounded out the evening. I wonder how many more years the old dude will be able to pull himself out of the pool after a swim. 😉

Happy birthday, Carl (you old geezer, you)!

More Starbucks

After the comment made by Mike (go ahead and read his blog — you know you want to!!), I checked the link he gave me to the full list of Starbucks that are slated to close. Sure enough, Seymour is there. Noooooooooooo!

My long absence

Posted by Perry

After a long absence from posting, I’m back!

While I wish my absence was due to a long, enjoyable vacation – sadly it wasn’t. I had bought a new iMac and hadn’t gotten all of my old passwords moved to it. Simply put – I slacked off on it.

Thankfully, Shelley has kept our loyal readers up to date while I was in the midst of getting set up. I have so much catching up to do now, and hopefully will have some new posts up very shortly.

Stay tuned!

Save Our Starbucks

Starbucks is to close 600 stores. While I wish that they would be pulled from Target and other department type stores, (I just think when you charge so much for a cup of coffee, stores should remain a little more exclusive than that!), I was in hopes that the Seymour store wouldn’t be one slated to be pulled. The good news is — it isn’t. Check out the list of those that aren’t so lucky.

My son, Ben, told Perry and I that Dunkin Donuts coffee rules. In our opinion, he was wrong. I did pick up a bag and we gave it a shot yesterday. I’ll stick to my Starbucks Sumatra, thank you very much.
