I contain no fruit juice

It was a hectic day and we needed food fast. A quick ‘run for the border’ was the plan and we headed south. A guy with his hair in a ponytail disparagingly took our order and handed it off to Tattoo Chick. Tattoo Chick slopped the beans and meat on the tortillas and on her shoes, and then handed off the items to Really Tattooed Chick. Really Tattooed Chick wrapped up the food (?) creations, put them in a bag and shoved them toward us while grunting, “232!”

Now I’ll be the first to admit that I absolutely love fast food! And I love Taco Bell. But sheesh! I wonder why people (yes, me too!) still go places where they aren’t provided a decent customer experience, let alone an ultimate one. In my recent food experience, the floor was obviously nasty greasy, and it looked cleaner than 90% of the young employees preparing our meal. But still, I took my food and said nothing…until here and now where it isn’t going to make one bit of difference.

I chose to snap this shot instead of one behind the counter. How can one make a nutritious fruity drink with NATURAL fruit flavors, and not add a drop of fruit juice?

Flying soap bubbles

Perry can see some pretty cool stuff while seated at his work station — I see my computer monitor and the back of his head. Now how fair is that? When he told me he was grabbing his camera to take a shot of a praying mantis he saw sitting on the fence, I thought I’d grab my camera and take a quick photo as well. Although I did get a couple shots of the little green guy, I found something a tad more interesting to photograph…

This aggressive bad boy fought with about 4 others for the prime drinking spot on the mckainerwin feeder. Hummingbirds are the coolest — don’t you agree? Their colors come from iridescence — not pigment — so their brilliance ‘winks’ depending on the light source and the position of the viewer. Kind of like soap bubbles!

Push it on back

It’s Monday morning, and the normal work routine has started that will continue throughout the next 5 days. Woo woo! Most of you have also settled into your work-week routine as well. But here’s what I wanna know! How often does portions of your day job get pushed to the night—and what do you do about it, especially when you have another commitment?

With what we do here at MPG South and at mckainerwin, our time demands are overwhelming sometimes. Sometimes, those demands interfere with outside commitments. I’m willing to bet that there are those of you who experience the same conflicts that we do. So what do you do?

Saturday Fun – photofun!

posted by Shelley

It’s Saturday and work is prohibited. So let’s have some photo fun. Those of you that know me well, know that I’m famous for manipulating photos. While that’s awesome when it comes to the creative side of the work I do, I also tend to use my creativity in less desirable ways as well. I love throwing two photos together for a good laugh, and always snicker to myself when superimposing the faces of my friends on photos of bodies they don’t want, or in photos of places they don’t want to be. When I do it — I use some pretty expensive software that the majority of you probably don’t have access to. But wait! Have I got a site for you!

First, find a photo that you’re especially fond of and make sure the file size isn’t over 500kb. Then all you need to do is go to the PhotoFunia.com site and pick out a really awesome background. Put yourself or your friends in the newspaper, on a $100 bill, or up on a Times Square billboard! Be sure to tell me what you think, and don’t use a photo of me as some source of revenge. You know what they say about paybacks. 😉
